I'm sure most of you have heard of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. It is one of the most famous culinary school programs in the United States and has graduated many of the top chefs in this country. But how many of you knew there was a CIA campus in California?

It's called The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone and is located in St. Helena, CA in the heart of Napa Valley and has be around since 1995. It offers both food and wine related programs for foodservice professionals as well as classes for home food enthusiasts and those considering changing careers. It also offers public cooking demonstrations, seminars as well as travel programs and hosts the annual Worlds of Flavor Seminar and Conference attracting over 600 people each year.

Who knew?

If you want to learn more about the school and it's programs, visit my web site at The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone

And if any of you have graduated from the school or have take any kind of classes, I would love to hear about your experiences.

Reluctant Gourmet - the CIA certainly has a top notch reputation. There's an interview with CIA's Drusilla Blackman on a recipe for success in the culinary arts. I quote her: "The CIA’s faculty members are the most highly trained anywhere" - that is quite a convincing statement!

I was lucky enough to present a student with a scholarship raised from sales of one of my books at the CIA in Napa a few years ago. I can't tell you how accommodating everyone I met there was. And the tour I received was unbelievable. Sometimes I think I'd trade one of my kids to have gone there or to go there, even at my age. Wonderful place.
