We've had a couple of decent rains, but I have not done much in the vege garden for a couple of weeks.
We had a lovely day after the fog cleared and I went out to the vege garden. I picked about 2 gal of tomatoes, several small peppers, a few wimpy carrots to put into tomorrow night's soup, and the arugula! I had to pull it like weeds! It's $9.99 per lb at the chi chi grocery store!
I have broccoli, beets, brussle sprouts, lettuce, onions, garlic, chard, snow peas planted right now. Those will all last through the winter here in No CA.
I'm dehydrating tomatoes and am going to try eggplant tomorrow. |

| Sounds like you're having a vegetable garden in your backyard. It's good to know with planting you save your extra income from buying in the grocery store. My mom also loves to plant vegetables in our garden. She says it's more convenient and natural than purchasing some in the market. I quite agree to her. |

Right now is when I can pick a whole salad out of the garden! Last night our salad consisted of several kinds of lettuce, arugula, nasturtium leaves, tomatoes, radishes, peppers and cucumbers!
Have to find some good eggplant recipes cause I'm overloaded!
I'm still making tomato sauce or drying them to put into soups and stews in the winter.
Have planted sugar snap peas, broccoli, chard, kale, khoulrabi, carrots and letuce. Probably more, but can't think of it now. NT |

| It must be so nice to have fresh veggies in your backyard! I wish I had the patience to do this myself...maybe next year I will try! |

I'm rather obscessed with it actually! LOL
Just start small with a couple of tomato plants and some herbs.
You can grow the herbs in planters or inside and have them fresh almost year round in some areas, all the time except for basil in my area.
The look on people's faces when you come in from the deck with a handful of plants, and then the look when they taste that food made with fresh herbs is great!
You can't beat fresh tomatoes!
If that doesn't give you the "patience" I don't know what will! |
