It is really hard to deny the fact that wine is a wonderful accompaniment to almost any meal. Today many people actually enjoy a glass of wine along with dinner, although unfortunately there are many of those who are really not well aware of how to select a wine for their meal. In most of the cases, you may find an individual having one wine that he or she likes and drinks it with everything.
Generally, the basic rule of thumb, which many people or every beginner know, is that red wine goes with red meat and white wine goes well white meat.This idea is not always true. Its Better to Choose wine according to the food, like if you and your guest having Light Meat select white wine else go for red wine.
Another important aspect for selecting wine is taste of Food, Spices in food etc...don't just for the color of wine. |

I drink what I like be it red or white.
I prefer white wine, so drink it with steak, pork, foul, soup or whatever.
I always have red available to others who prefer it.
I don't think there are any "rules" anymore. Many people that I know agree with me.
Just my opinion. |

| The old rule of "red wine goes with red meat and white wine goes with white meat" doesn't really hold true anymore. There are so many exceptions and considerations with the plethora of wines now available. Lighter reds, really heavy whites, etc. My understanding is if you are matching food and wine, you try not to overpower a dish with the wine. For example, a big, buttery, oaky Chardonnay may overpower a light fish or veal dish. Now saying that, I don't really care what the experts say and you should drink what tastes good to you. I have a friend who doesn't like red wines. Does this mean if we are serving steak she should be served a glass of wine? - RG |

Anyone remember ole Justin Wilson, the cooking Cajun on TV several years ago? When asked what wine to use in cooking he would say "What ever is on sale".  |

Drink what you like!
I did, however attend a fabulous dinner/show recently in SF!
We spent the extra $ to pair wines with the food that was being served. It was divine!
Living in Sonoma Co, CA can be crazy with all the wineries in the area!
I need to take a class to get an idea of pairings!
Too many wines! LOLOL |
