Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup pure Canadian maple syrup
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper optional, for heat

Instructions

Combine Ingredients

  • Place ketchup, maple syrup, vinegar, soy sauce, mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a medium saucepan.

Add Seasonings

  • Stir in smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne (if using). Mix well.

Simmer the Sauce

  • Set the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture just to a simmer, stirring occasionally.

Cook Until Thickened

  • Reduce heat to low. Simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce thickens and flavors meld.
  • Taste and Adjust
  • Add more vinegar for tang, more maple syrup for sweetness, or a touch more cayenne for spice.

Cool and Store

  • Let the sauce cool. Transfer to a jar or airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
