Equipment

  • 1 non stick skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread white, sourdough, your favorite
  • 2 slices cheese American, cheddar, or any good melting cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter softened and more if you like

Instructions

Preheat Your Pan

  • Place a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Let it warm up for a minute or two.

Butter the Bread

  • Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. The buttered sides will be the outside of the sandwich.

Assemble the Sandwich

  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the pan. Add the cheese slices on top. Then place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up.

Cook Low and Slow

  • Cook the sandwich on medium-low heat. This helps melt the cheese without burning the bread. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.

Flip Carefully

  • Use a spatula to flip the sandwich gently. Cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden and the cheese is melted.

Check for Doneness

  • Press lightly on the sandwich. The cheese should feel soft and gooey inside. If the bread browns too quickly, lower the heat.

Serve Hot

  • Remove the sandwich from the pan. Let it sit for a minute, then cut and enjoy!
