Ingredients

  • 1 ripe fresh tomato per person
  • thin slices fresh mozzarella cheese
  • whole basil leaves washed and dried
  • olive oil best quality extra virgin
  • balsamic vinegar best quality
  • kosher salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Instructions

Slice the Tomatoes

  • Cut into ¼-inch slices.
  • Lightly salt and let sit 5 minutes if they’re very juicy.

Slice the Mozzarella

  • Match the thickness of the tomatoes.

Arrange the Salad

  • Alternate tomato and mozzarella on a plate.

Add the Basil

  • Tuck whole leaves or scatter on top.
  • Tear gently to release aroma.

Season Properly

  • Salt the tomatoes directly. Add pepper if desired.
  • Taste as you go—this step matters most.

Drizzle Olive Oil

  • Use high-quality extra virgin olive oil.

Optional Additions
